Broncos LBs Miller and Dumervil Making Some Weighty Adjustments

One important aspect of the offseason besides organized team activities are adjustments. Denver Broncos outside linebackers Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil are making adjustments to their weight. Miller is trying to add over 10 pounds, of muscle that is, while Dumervil is trying to lose 10 pounds.

Miller is 6’3” and is listed at 237 pounds, and wants to play at 250 pounds, so Miller could still easily gain some weight without losing some speed. He’s hoping the extra weight will help him better take on blockers.

Dumervil has already lost at least 10 pounds in order to pick up speed while keeping his strength and conditioning. Dumervil lost the weight by eating a more natural non-processed food diet.

Losing and adding weight is common place in the NFL as players adjust their weight all the time to figure out what weight they perform the best at. Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame defensive end Bruce Smith is a good example of performing better after losing weight.

Smith stated in the past that after having a mediocre rookie season weighing in around 300 pounds he decided to get in better shape to perform better. That plan worked as Smith went on to be one of the greatest defensive ends of all time.

We’ll have to wait until the regular season to see if they picked the right weight.
