Barry Sanders Gives Advice to NFL Rookies

Barry Sanders

Legendary Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders attended the 2012 NFL Draft to see the future stars of the NFL receive their new team jerseys. Pro Player Insiders caught up with Sanders and spoke to him about his draft day experience was and where it took him.  He responded saying, “Everyone from my neighborhood was there including all eleven siblings at my house. It was one big party and a once in a lifetime feeling.”

In today’s NFL, teams are far more pass happy and running backs are considered much more expendable than back in Barry Sanders career.  He commented on the evolution of the game, “It evolved more into a passing game, and there are not as many runners that can command the attention and respect from being a running back in the NFL.”

Sanders also had some words of wisdom for the new rookies, in typical Sanders fashion.  He said, “Be as humble as possible and learn as much as you can, and find someone that has been around the league for a while so they can teach you a thing or two.”  Sanders was always one of the most humble and soft spoken of the NFL Superstars, and players could learn a lot from looking at how he played the game.
