The PPI Mock Draft, Picks 11-20

Here is the second installment of our mock draft, with picks 11 through 20.  The first portion, picks 1-10, is available here.

11 – Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College

Keuchly is the all-time leader in tackles at Boston College and Atlantic Coast Conference history. Kuechly is the perfect prospect for the Chiefs and GM Scott Pioli because of his squeaky clean reputation off the field and strong character.

12 – Seattle Seahawks
The Pick: Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina

Peter King has been reporting that if Ryan Tannehill gets past the Dolphins he will be picked by the Seahawks in this spot. Since I have the Dolphins picking Tannehill the Seahawks will have to switch to plan B.

13 – Arizona Cardinals
The Pick: David DeCastro, G, Stanford

DeCastro is a technically sound guard who has been a part of the Stanford power running game for three years. The Cardinals would love to see the run blocking improve for Beanie Wells who was a power back at Ohio St. DeCastro is also a solid pass blocker and has helped to keep Andrew Luck safe. The Buccaneers paid big money to sign Saints OG Carl Nicks proving that this often over looked position is now a premium spot in the NFL.

14 – Dallas Cowboys
The Pick: Mark Barron, S, Alabama

Mock Drafts on the internet all seem to agree that if Barron is available at 14 the Cowboys will select him. Barron’s breakout season was his sophomore year when he helped lead Alabama to the National Championship. (Unfortunately that National Championship trophy was recently smashed.) Unlike former Cowboys safety Roy Williams, Barron is a stud in run defense and pass protection.

15 – Philadelphia Eagle

Dontari Poe

The Pick: Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis

The Eagles need to pick a DT and the way this draft is playing out the Eagles will have their pick of a few. The Eagles could go for the upside of Poe or take a safer prospect like Mississippi States Fletcher Cox. Poe’s workout will be too much for the Eagles to ignore.

16 – New York Jets
The Pick: Courtney Upshaw, DE/OLB. Alabama

The great thing about Upshaw is that he played both DE and OLB in college. He is a great pass rusher and in NYC the Giants have stolen the back pages from the Jets by doing just that. Honestly, the Jets will look to do what the Jets do… and that’s make a splash. If the Eagles don’t pick Poe, I think the Jets will.

17 – Cincinnati Bengals (via Oakland Raiders)
The Pick: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

Alabama players are flying off the board and Kirkpatrick should be the third player from the Alabama defense to be picked. The Bengals added Nate Clements and have Leon Hall. Kirkpatrick could play nickel while he develops and then take over for the aging Clements.

18 – San Diego Chargers
The Pick: Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

Brockers is a raw prospect but has all the physical tools to be a dominate DT in the NFL. He is a unique prospect that can play nose or a more versatile tackle position.

19 – Chicago Bears
The Pick: Jonathan Martin, T, Stanford

The Bears finally got Jay Cutler some help on the outside when they traded for Brandon Marshall. Now the Bears need to make sure they can keep Cutler’s jersey clean and Martin makes a lot of sense. Martin has proven to be durable starting 37 of 39 games in the last three seasons at Stanford and like DeCastro he has done well protecting Andrew Luck.

20 – Tennessee Titans
The Pick: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

Cortland Finnegan is in St. Louis, so the Titans need a new corner to battle with Andre Johnson. Gilmore might not get past the Jaguars at 7 but if he does he will be quite the steal for the Titans at 20.
