Crimson Tide running back Trent Richardson attended the prom this weekend. Of course, it wasn’t his prom, and it’s far more about who he attended with that makes this event noteworthy.
Richardson completed a dream for 17-year-old cancer survivor Courtney Alvis by going to her prom Saturday night at Boutwell Auditorium. Richardson agreed to attend after Alvis uncle contacted some friends at Alabama, who got word to Richardson.
Richardson agreed to go for two reasons. He never went to his own prom, but more importantly, his own mother is a cancer survivor.
Alvis was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago and is currently undergoing chemo therapy maintenance treatments.
Richardson has been predicted by many draft experts to be a top five pick in this month’s National Football League Draft.
