The World Series, Linsanity, and the Stanley Cup

After a week away from the show (Don’s lame excuse: “I had a baby.”), The Sports-Casters return with a guest heavy show featuring three of the best writers in sports.

Jeff Passan makes his first appearance on the podcast since Season 1 Episode 1 and joins the guys (00:21:30) live from Florida where he is covering spring training.  Jeff recaps the offseason free agent market, talks about the ever manic Johnny Valentine, and predicts that the American League will have six teams that could make a run at the World Series.

Pablo S. Torre makes his second appearance (01:20:51) on the podcast to discuss #linsanity.  Torre tells Steve and Don how the most sought after phone number in sports ended up in his address book, talks about the pressure on Jeremy Lin to lead the Knicks into the playoffs, and gives his opinion on just how good he thinks Lin is.

Gene Wojciechowski is the last guest of the night and he joins the guys (01:51:55) to discuss his book, “The Last Great Game: Duke vs. Kentucky and the 2.1 Seconds that Changed Basketball.”  Woj talks about the enigmatic Christian Laettner, the rise of Kentucky basketball, and the game that inspired him to write the book.

Steve and Don start the show with 3Things and pay tribute to Whitney Houston and remember Gary Carter. In between interview the guys list their favorites to win the Stanley Cup,
