McNabb Goes Unclaimed

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb cleared waivers today, with no team filing a claim.  He is now a free agent and free to sign with any team.

Given the status of some of the teams in the league, McNabb going unclaimed is a bit of a surprise, indicating how far his reputation has fallen in the last two years.  McNabb is a six time Pro Bowl quarterback who is in the top 20 all time in passing yardage.  At only 35, he should still have a few decent years left in him.

The Chicago Bears sticking with Caleb Hanie and the Houston Texans standing by untested rookie T.J. Yates as they try to complete their respective playoff runs, without putting a more experienced backup behind them, is questionable.  The Texans just signed veteran Jake Delhomme, who is a year older, has thrown for 17,000 less yards, and started this season on his couch at home.

McNabb can still be signed as a free agent, and given some of the injuries problems around the league, we think he’s still got a good chance to find a home this season.
