Evans Practices, Optimistic of Return Sunday

Veteran wide receiver Lee Evans continued practicing Wednesday and indicated that he is a game time decision for Sunday’s game against the Bengals.

This is the second week in a row that Evans has been practicing and fighting through a nagging ankle injury that has kept him sidelined since the second week of the season.

“Last week was real positive, so if this week is going to be better, we got a real shot,” Evans told reporters Wednesday before practice. “If things go really, really well throughout the week maybe we can make a determination early, but I’m thinking it will be a game-time decision.”

Evans would provide one more weapon to quarterback Joe Flacco, in addition to WRs Anquan Boldin and rookie Torrey Smith. And they could use every weapon they can get as they face the tough Bengals defense, which has given up the third fewest points in the league.

Evans indicated he was able to run and cut without hesitation. “I was able to do it last week, and that shouldn’t change any.”

“I’m optimistic about this week and hopefully it goes well.”
