Dolphins Get First Win

The Miami Dolphins have been struggling, and finally got over the hump and earned their first win this weekend, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-3.  The Dolphins improved their record to 1-7, and the Chiefs broke their 4 game winning streak and fell to 4-4.

The Dolphins have lost a couple of heart breakers the last couple weeks, as they lost in overtime to Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos 18-15 and then lost by 3 to the New York Giants last weekend, 20-17.

They didn’t leave any room for doubt this week, as they ran away with the game, winning by four touchdowns.  Quarterback Matt Moore played error-free football, going 17 of 23 for 244 yards and 3 TDs with no INTs.

Moore’s primary target was wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who had 8 catches for 106 yards and a TD.  Tight end Anthony Fasano raked in two receptions for 38 yards, both of the TDs.

Miami also racked up over 100 yards on the ground, aided by Reggie Bush’s 13 carriers for 92 yards and a TD.  Bush also had 3 receptions for 50 yards.

The Dolphins defense bent but didn’t break, as neither team had a turnover.  Although the Dolphins gave up 253 passing yards and 116 rushing yards, they kept the Chiefs out of the end zone and held them to a single field goal in the victory.

The win was a huge victory for the Dolphins, as they have one of the toughest schedules in the league for the second half of the season.  Their schedule for the rest of the season is:  Washington, Buffalo, Dallas, Oakland, Philadelphia, Buffalo (again), New England and the Jets.

It’s hard to imagine too many more victories given that schedule, but the Dolphins have been playing solid football the last few weeks, and today’s victory will give them some confidence.
