Cleveland- On Monday, the Cleveland Browns picked up free agent running back Kareem Hunt. There have been a lot of questions about the moe and how it represents the league. For two years Hunt was with the Kansas City Chiefs and had a defining impact on the field as soon as he touched the ball. In his two years with the Chiefs, Hunt had eclipsed 2,151 on the ground and had a total of 15 touchdowns. However, off the field, Hunt had put himself in certain situations that ultimately got him released. Hunt was involved in an altercation where he violently pushed a female into a wall. He told the Chiefs’ organization his side of the story but after an ongoing investigation, law enforcement decided that Hunt lied about what really went on and the Chiefs released him.
A lot of people thought that Hunt’s career was done because of the video that TMZ released that showed Hunt in a negative way. Some people said the video is very similar to the Ray Rice elevator situation. However after waiting a couple of months, the Browns decided to grab Hunt and now that he is signed, a lot of people are asking what is going on with the NFL and not signing Kaepernick. “Personally, I think it’s a stunt to take attention away from the AAF right now. Among other issues, the league is choosing to ignore, said Ash Edmiston.
“Also, with the Muller investigation looking into who donated to the Inauguration committee, 9 NFL owners are tied to it and have named in Kaepernick’s grievance specifically in connection. so it’s easier to move the attention elsewhere so everyone forgets a potential reason why Kaepernick’s grievance hasn’t been decided fully, it’s tied to the federal investigation.”
GM John Dorsey, who drafted Hunt in Kansas City, cited his long “relationship and interaction” with the running back as part of the reason why the team signed him.”My relationship and interaction with Kareem since 2016 in college was an important part of this decision-making process but we then did extensive due diligence with many individuals, including clinical professionals, to have a better understanding of the person he is today and whether it was prudent to sign him,” Dorsey said. “There were two important factors: one is that Kareem took full responsibility for his egregious actions and showed true remorse and secondly, just as importantly, he is undergoing and is committed to necessary professional treatment and a plan that has been clearly laid out.”
Hopefully, Hunt will use mistakes, as his life lessons and not get back into trouble.
