After a few knee injuries, Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles is unsure of his future with the Chiefs. In November a decision was made to repair a torn meniscus and clean the other knee. “The team put me on injured reserve, and we talked about it, and decided to have him clean out the other knee as well,” Charles wrote. “That one wasn’t as bad, but there was some stuff in there. It made sense to do it so I could just heal up and go out there feeling the same way in both knees, just completely ready.”
Charles stated that he felt better than he felt all year. After nine seasons and $7 million in salary and bonuses, Charles may have to take a pay cut if he still wants to be with the Chiefs. “I honestly don’t know what the future holds for me,” Charles said.
“What I do know is that I still want to play football. I was only 29 years old this season. My goal right now is to just focus on the now and my rehab and let the rest sort itself out later.”
The Chiefs will get Charles back this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Chiefs are looking to pull off the upset by running the ball down the Steelers’ throat. In his 12th season, Chiefs’ QB Alex Smith has been excellent in his five post season appearances. He has 11 touchdowns and 1 pick. With Charles back on the field, it could open up many possibilities in what the Chiefs will do.
