Seahawks Announce High School Athlete of the Week

 

web1_KW-cheer-onlineEvery week the Seattle Seahawks recognizes athletes that play for different high schools, that has influence their schools, as well as their communities . This week they have recognized Alexia Thomas of Kentwood High School as the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the week. This young lady has wowed her classmates, teammates, and was addressed by her peers as a fine leader. Alexia has kept a 3.75 in her academics, while taking some college classes. This young lady defines the term “Wonder Woman.” She will be receiving her Associates degree the same time that she will be receiving her high school diploma. While her academics are impressive, she has helped out her community through her cheerleading squad. Through cheering and the many sports that she has been active in, many opportunities have opened up with her helping out the community.

Alexia has helped out many organizations, such as back to school festivals, Toys for Tots drive, helps out with making people aware of Breast cancer,and she is a counselor for the Covington Parks and Recreation. There are many things that she has achieved as an athlete such as being a National Champion in a 4- man Stunt Group, State Champion Cheerleader in 2015 and 2016, runs track, has competed in top ten finishes in States, and was voted as the MVP for the 2016 season. This woman can do it all and she has proven that determination is the motivation that brings people together.

She will be recognized Nov. 20th when the Eagles come into to town to play the Seattle Seahawks. All of the athletes that were selected will be granted 1,000 equipment grant for their school, media recognition, tickets to the game, sideline passes, a customized football and a jersey. In total, the Seahawks will contribute to $10,000 dollars to the program, but it is not the money that will mean anything. The Seahawks are recognizing people who are beyond the fame and are dedicated to their communities as leaders.
