Week 8 proved to be a hard time for the Dallas Cowboys as they hosted the Seattle Seahawks in a late afternoon game. The Cowboys stayed in pace or ahead of the Seahawks for most of the game. Dallas moved the ball up and down the field, but was only able to come away with four field goals for the entire game. It was a valiant effort, but Dallas came up short once again, losing to the Seahawks by the score of 13-12. It was the Cowboys fight consecutive loss, dropping them to a record of 2-5.
As the Cowboys regroup and prepare for Week 9 of the 2015 NFL season, there were some transactions and changes that that took place. For starters, running back Joseph Randle was released/waivered Tuesday by the Cowboys due to poor performance on the field and off the field antics and troubles. Which means Randle is now free to sign with any of the other 31 teams in the NFL as he sees fit. With the release of Randle, the Cowboys has signed rookie running back Trey Williams to help fill the void.
Williams was one of the Washington Redskins’ practice squad players. The speedy Williams who ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, has a 5-7 195lbs frame. He was one of the Texas A&M Aggies leading rushers in the 2014 as a junior. Williams finished 2nd on the team, with 81 yards, 18 touchdowns carries for 560 yards. He carried the ball 83 times for almost 1400 yards during his three years as an Aggie. Dallas is primary interested in Trey Williams for his kick return ability. While at Texas A&M, Williams returned 70 kicks for a 24.1 yard per return average.
The bulk of the running game will be designated to Darren McFadden and Christine Michaels for Week 9. On Wednesday, Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo took part in team drills for the first time since injuring his collarbone in Week 2, on September 20 against the then 0-2 Philadelphia Eagles. Even though he worked out, Romo is still on the IR list until November 22, when the Dallas takes on the Miami Dolphins. Romo took part in the warm-up drills, individual drills, and threw passes during the route-on-air portion of practice under the eye of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.
For the time being, the Cowboys back-up quarterback Matt Cassel will take all of the first team snaps as Dallas get ready to face their No.2 divisional rival, the 3-4 Philadelphia Eagles, at home in the AT&T Stadium for the Sunday Night Football game at 7:30 primetime. As a die-hard Dallas’ fan, I still have high hopes for the Cowboys. I believe they can pull-off a win this week. It will not be an easy win, but it will be a win for Dallas. I am predicting the Cowboys to win by a 4pts margin. Dallas 24/Philadelphia 20.
