Eagles Looking for D Consultant?

Now that the highly vaunted Philadelphia Eagles, the team formerly known as the “Dream Team,” have fallen to 1-4, the search for answers begins.

One place they are looking is the team’s new defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, who formerly coached the team’s offensive line for 13 years.  Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that the Eagles will consider the possibility of bringing in a consultant during the bye week to help with the defense.

Ironically, the Eagles offensive line seems to have taken a big step backwards as well, leaving Vick to run for his life, and the defense has looked unaggressive and short on fundamentals (such as tackling).  Perhaps the coaching move ultimately hurt both units.

While good defensive coaches are hard to find mid-season, there are some interesting possibilities, including former Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil, who has worked with Andy Reid in the past in Green Bay.
