Eagles Fly High in Dallas, Beat Cowboys 33-10

In a matchup that decided who had sole possession of first place in the NFC East, the Eagles stuffed the Cowboys in a 33-10 blowout victory.

Philadelphia started fast, taking their opening possession 80 yards in 9 plays, with Mark Sanchez finishing the drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown just three minutes into the game. After forcing a Dallas punt, the Eagles drove 88 yards in 7 plays, with Sanchez finding rookie receiver Jordan Matthews for a 27 yard touchdown to make it 14-0 with four minutes left in the opening quarter.

The Cowboys would answer on the ensuing possession, as they went 67 yards in 7 plays, and DeMarco Murray scored on a one yard run on the first play of the second quarter. Before the end of the first half, however, Cody Parkey hit three field goals (31, 22, 26) for Philadelphia to go into the locker room up 23-7.

Less than four minutes into the third quarter, LeSean McCoy fumbled, with Dallas recovering at the Eagles’ 14 yard line, though the defense held the Cowboys to a Dan Bailey 28 yard field goal two minutes later. But Philadelphia would go 80 yards in just 5 plays when they got the ball back, with McCoy making up for his fumble with a 38 yard touchdown run to make it 30-10 halfway through the third quarter, and another Parkey field goal (25 yards) in the fourth quarter and a continually stifling Eagles defense sealed the win.

Sanchez was 20 of 29 for 217 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 28 yards and another score, with McCoy rushing for 159 yards and a touchdown and Jeremy Maclin catching 8 passes for 108 yards. Romo was 18 of 29 for 199 yards and two interceptions, while Murray had only 73 yards rushing, only his second game of the season with less than 100 yards rushing.
