Ever since her husband, NFL wide receiver Lee Evans, was drafted by the Bills in 2004, Miranda has embraced the city of Buffalo and the Western New York region. Although Evans is now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, that has not stopped Miranda from continuing to make plays of her own in Buffalo.
In the midst of Evans transition to Baltimore, Miranda and her business partner, Buffalo native Siobhan Taylor, opened a clothing boutique called “MS Eye Candy” in downtown Buffalo. Miranda says, “MS Eye Candy is offering one of a kind pieces made by independent designers including this season’s fall weather trends and staples for year round wardrobes.”
With their boutique, Miranda hopes to bring their passion for fashion to the women of Buffalo while investing in the city that they love.
Evans, a former No. 13 overall pick, was one of the leading wide receivers for the Buffalo Bills for the past seven years. Starting all 16 games for the Bills in each of his first six seasons has helped Evans become the third ranked receiver in Buffalo’s record books with 5,934 total yards. This five time team captain has proven himself by making big plays for the Bills until he was traded to Baltimore on August 12th, just weeks into training camp.
Although many professional athletes come in and out of the cities in which they play without having time to make a mark on the community, Miranda says, “we’ve been blessed with the time and ability to continue to make an investment in the community that supported my husband for so many years.”
On the football front, Evans has been adjusting to Baltimore and established that he is ready to catch Joe Flacco’s long balls. To date he has caught three passes for 68 yards against Kansas City this preseason, including a 43-yarder. Against the Redskins he caught three more passes, for 60 yards and a 35-yard touchdown. He is currently battling an ankle injury and may be out for this week’s game against the Jets. That said, we can expect to see Evans back week 6 as a contributor in Flacco’s passing arsenal.
Baltimore has gained a productive receiver, veteran, and team leader, and furthermore a family that is willing to make plays by investing in Maryland like they have done in Buffalo.
While they are embracing their new home, Evans and Miranda are grateful for the time they have spent in Buffalo and know their store will keep them tied to the city for years to come.
MS Eye Candy is located on 292 W Utica St. in Buffalo, NY. The boutique is open six days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also visit them at www.mseyecandy.com.
