After a thrilling style win last week at home, the Arizona Cardinals will have to win the next game to make that game count bigger in the standings. Losing the game to the next opponent the New York Giants would take away from what was built in the exciting come from behind win. The Giants are a team in a big mess at this moment and trying to find their way in a new offense, much like the Cardinals were a year ago. This is the best time to kick them while they are down and sneak out with a road win that keeps you neck and neck with the two division leaders.
Picking up where they left off last week the Cards should jump on the Giants from the start, and should they be able to do that it may just break the confidence of a team that just does not know its own identity at this early point in the season.
The offensive line will certainly be the key component to this game early, as the Giants still can mount a good pass rush. The O-line did a decent job with the exception of a few plays last week, but this week those few plays will be key to keeping the Giants in this game. Stopping the run has become a staple of this team, and should they continue that and make a struggling Eli Manning one dimensional, could bode very well for the covering secondary to get their hands on some turn-overs.
In the previous game against the San Diego Chargers, quarterback Carson Palmer spread the ball around to 11 different receivers and did not get caught up in the situation of locking on one guy. Larry Fitzgerald was the go to guy for this team in years past, and that has changed dramatically as the ball goes only to the open player. Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd will want to get after two of their former teammates now on the Giants secondary in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Antrell Rolle, two guys that are good in coverage. So look for the ball to go more to the tight ends and backs and slot receivers.
This game can easily be vital to the NFC West standings as the team will face the first time this season next week, but lets hope they are not doing what we are doing right now and that’s over looking the struggling New York Football Giants. The Cards should win this game 26-20 with the defense holding once again in the final drive.
