Torrey Smith and Ravens Trounce Rams 37-3

The Baltimore Ravens were up again, trouncing the St. Louis Rams 37-3, dropping the Rams to 0-3 while the Ravens improved their record to 2-1.

Rookie Torrey Smith had a breakout game, using his electrifying speed to get behind the St. Louis safeties for TD catches of 74 and 41 yards.  His first three receptions, the first three of his career, were all TDs totaling 133 yards.  After the smoke cleared, his final line was 5 catches for 152 yards and 3 TDs.

Smith got the call today because Lee Evans was out, but after today’s performance, Smith is certain to find his way onto the field much more often in weeks to come.

Quarterback Joe Flacco finished the game with 389 yards passing and the 3 TDs to Smith.  Ray Rice was also a strong contributor, with 79 yards rushing and 83 yards receiving.

The Ravens also scored late in the game on a 28-yard fumble return for a TD by 330 pound nose tackle Haloti Ngata.  Following last week’s 28-yard interception return by Patriots 325 pound Vince Wolfork, it’s been a good year for big guys running with the ball.
