Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo is very optimistic about his recovery from a herniated disc that was injured in late December of last year against the Washington Redskins. Romo has been feeling better and has been lightly engaging into offseason workouts. In a recent interview Romo had said,” “I think earlier on, right after surgery, you kind of go through that mode of getting healthy kind of having to not do too much right away, but now I’m to a point where you can push it and kind of go. I feel like at this point I could play in a game if I had to.”
In a humbling manner Romo appreciates the drive and the will to win games even if you have to sacrifice your body parts on the field. “You basically give up your body, in some ways, to play the game. It’s a great joy to be able to play this game for a living,” he said. “When I am done with the Cowboys I’ll have given my back and some ribs through that time, but it’s been a great joy to play with this organization says Romo.”
The Cowboy’s management in the offseason had acquired Brandon Weeden and kept last year’s back up Kyle Orton to help out the quarterback position if Romo wasn’t 100% by the start of the season. Last season in a thrilling game against the Philadelphia Eagles Kyle Orton had stepped up to the plate and kept the Cowboy’s in the game. He threw a crucial pick, but all in all he kept their season alive when Romo went down. They have players that can contribute when Romo is out, but it is not the same without him being on the field.
This season Romo has to put his team on his back, when healthy Romo is very dangerous especially moving out of the pocket and extending plays to keep his team in the game. The Cowboys have to have a 100% Romo if they want to get to the post season. The Cowboys have made only one post season appearance since Romo has been the quarterback and desperately Romo needs a few wins in the post season to protect his career and his legacy with the Cowboys.
