Former New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has caught the attention of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are in need of a backup quarterback, because they had released Michael Vick and ironically Vick had signed with the Jets.
Mark is coming off a traumatizing experience with the Jets: in a 2 year span he has had 52 turnovers and lost his starting position last season. “Playing quarterback for the Jets has been the thrill of my young career,” Sanchez wrote. “We shared some incredible moments together that I’ll never forget,” he wrote, adding he “gave everything I had to win the Lombardi Trophy.”
“It’s time to move on but before I do, I want to thank you for supporting me and my brothers in green and white. I also want to thank the New York Jets organization for giving me my first opportunity in the NFL, and a special thanks to the good folks at 1 Jets Drive, MetLife Stadium and Cortland for taking good care of my family and me over the last five years. But mostly I want to thank the guys in the locker room that put in the work every day. I love you guys and I’ll miss the good times we shared. “Take care and God Bless.”
The Eagles are prepared to make a deal if Mark is cleared with his shoulder injury, but the deal isn’t set in stone just yet. Other teams such as the Giants and the Rams are looking to add to their Quarterback rotations. Ram’s head coach Jeff Fisher is the first coach that publicized that they had an interest with signing Sanchez.
“I’d say that there is interest. I can’t say how much. But there certainly would be interest,’’ Fisher told the newspaper at the league meetings. “I don’t have a backup with experience on the roster right now.’’
Despite the negative buzz about how many turnovers Sanchez has thrown, he has a 33-29 record and has an astonishing QB rating of 71.7.
