Renton, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks have signed tight end Anthony McCoy to a one-year contract, the team announced this afternoon.
“We’re extremely excited to be able to retain a young player like Anthony, one of our own players who was important to the offense before his unfortunate injury,” said Executive Vice President/General Manager John Schneider. “He still has a huge upside in our mind. We felt badly for him last year going through the Achilles injury and that he was unable to play during the season and in the Super Bowl. We feel like he’s a well-rounded tight end and we’re very happy to have him back in the mix.”
Seattle drafted McCoy in the sixth-round (185th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft and he played in 34 games with 14 starts before sitting out the 2013 season on injured reserve (Achilles). He has 31 receptions for 437 yards and three touchdowns in his career.
