David Garrard is looking to continue his career in the NFL but wants the right home.
“We’re not interested in being a temporary fix,” Garrard’s agent, Albert Irby, told The Florida Times-Union on Monday. “Dave wants to go somewhere where eventually he can help the team win a championship. Although there are some temporary jobs out there, it’s not that we’re saying absolutely no. We would rather just go to one more organization and call it a day.”
It’s hard to imagine what role Garrard could play for another team at this stage in the game, but The Sacramento Bee reported Monday that as many as five franchises had contacted Irby.
Garrard reviewed list of candidates over the weekend and narrowed it down to two before a third team expressed interest Monday.
One possible landing for Garrard is with the Indianapolis Colts, whose fans are asking for someone like Garrard or Carson Palmer to step in while Peyton Manning recovers. There’s no indication that Indianapolis is making a play for Garrard.
