Tony Gonzalez’s Retirement may be Short lived

Former TE Tony Gonzalez may come out of retirement next season if the Atlanta Falcons need him. Gonzalez has been constantly changing his position on retiring for the past two years. Last season even with a 4-12 record Gonzalez was still able to be a threat to defenders. Tony-Gonzalez-Wallpapers-13

Last season was difficult for Gonzalez, in week 8 there as speculation that he was going to be traded, but was never traded. He seemed frustrated at the lack of effort from the team. “You trade me to a team that needs me, that wants to make a serious run in the playoffs and the Super Bowl,” Gonzalez said. “You get something in return for a guy who you know won’t be here next year. And the season isn’t going anywhere anyway. That’s rational” Tony stated.

Gonzalez comments about QB Matt Ryan raised eyebrows:” Matt’s an excellent quarterback, but he’s not elite,” Gonzalez said as he almost pinched together his thumb and index finger. “He’s this close. He’ll get there, but he has some learning to do.” But Gonzalez wasn’t alone in his criticism and the same words  have been said, in a different format, from coaches and other players as well.

He didn’t mean any harm with what he was saying, but he wanted” Matty Ice” to know that he could move up to the next level in the next couple of seasons; meanwhile the Falcons need to add more players to contribute to wins.

Since Matt Ryan took over the starting position, the Falcons have experience injuries to the receiving core which devastated the moral of the team. The organization has also made some dicey executive decisions to make room for other players.

Who can blame him, Gonzalez just wants to ride out in the sunset with a ring and still have the passion for the game of football.
