Mike Shanahan to Sit RG3 for the Rest of Season

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has confirmed that Redskins QB Robert Griffon III will not be the starter for the rest of the season. Mike Shanahan’s son Kyle Shanahan disagrees with the matter at hand.rg3-69

“I think they made a decision, ‘What’s the best for the future of the organization?’” Kyle said and they don’t want to happen to (Griffin) next year what happened this year. It’s really, really tough when a guy — especially in his situation — misses an entire offseason and that’s the way they feel about it.””I think it will be good for Robert to get the reps, that’s my opinion of it from 100 percent a football standpoint,” Kyle said. “But I do understand they have concerns that I don’t think about as much.”

“I’m a coordinator. I don’t look at things the same way an owner does or a GM or a head coach. I don’t look at the future of franchise, I look at how the hell am I going to win on Sunday, and I would love to have our starting quarterback out there for the rest of the year Kyle states.”

RG3 was as well disappointed with the switch up in the line ups; “I expressed my desire to play,” Griffin said. “Of course, I want to be out there and finish the season with my guys, see it through. He explained to me his reasoning, and at the end of the day Coach’s decision is what we go with.”

Mike on the other hand had expressed why the change of QB’s was necessary; You’ve got to take a look at the risk and reward,” Shanahan said. “And with Robert I thought that his hits were piling up on him, giving him his toll, and I was afraid that we would set him back.“I would be disappointed if Robert did not want to be in there with his teammates. I would be the most disappointed guy. I’d be the most disappointed guy in myself if he played the last three weeks and he had an ACL or LCL and it sent him off for his second year in a row without an offseason.”

Back up QB Kirk Cousins will start Sunday in absence of RG3. “To start this game in Atlanta on Sunday is not the first time that I’ve had to face something that is a little unique,” Cousins said. “It’s just one more time where you’ve got to dig deep. You’ve got to work hard. You’ve got to be tough.”

The season for Washington  is coming to a close and with two games left the Redskins need answers with moving forward. There have been a lot of assumptions with players getting cut and maybe Mike Shanahan’s future at sake.
