Aaron Rodgers Fractures Left Collarbone

Green Bay Packer’s QB Aaron Rodgers is  on I.R. because of a fracture to his left collarbone. Rodgers was injured in the Monday Night game against the Chicago Bears; before he left the game, he was attempting to drive the Packers down the field to extend their lead against the Bears.

This season Rodgers had completed over 64% of his passes and had a ratio of 15 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. Since 2008, Rodgers had only one serious injury (concussion) which kept him from playing. There have been questions surrounding the amount of time Rodgers would be out.

A tweet from ESPN’s Ed Werder indicated there was swelling in the area that made it difficult to diagnose on Monday night, necessitating the Tuesday imaging. Given that, the range could extend out significantly, but Rodgers did not indicate that there was anything beyond “waiting for the bone to heal.” Packers coach Mike McCarthy was relieved when he had found out about Rodger’s injury.

“With the new information that was given today, everybody felt better about it. How long? We don’t have our hands around a timeline yet, but I know Aaron is very optimistic and he’ll do everything he can to get back in a timely fashion McCarth said.”

Since Rodgers will not be able to play, back up QB Seneca Wallace will start in his absence. Wallace throughout his career has been very crafty with his ability to make things happen and extend plays with his arm. Wallace was picked up by the Packers this season and relieved Rodger’s when he was injured. Wallace did not have a great game; he went 11-19 for 114 yards and threw a pick. Wallace will start against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
