For the loyal fans of the NFL and players who have spent months preparing for the games the wait is over. Week 1 of the NFL season is over. Fantasy owners are scurrying to get their rosters solidified, traditional sunday parties are being held across the country, and of course the football!
Sunday Night Football has always been something to look foreword to, especially with it involves one of the fiercest rivalries in the league. The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants squared off to see who could triumph to victory and stand atop the NFC East. Analysts and experts considered both teams to be evenly matched and expected the games to come down to the final few possessions.
The New York Giants got the ball first and hoped Eli Manning and the offense would set the tone. The Cowboys had other plans. On Eli Manning’s first pass of the season, DeMarcus Ware reached up and picked it off. Newly named AT&T Stadium exploded and another wild night and season in the NFC East was underway.
The night didn’t any easier for Manning and the Giants. Manning had a night to forget throwing three interceptions. Running back David Wilson fumbled twice and was benched. On the other side of the ball, the Giants defense wasn’t much better. Tony Romo and the newly polished Cowboys offense failed to convert some of the Giants turnovers into touchdowns but Romo and Jason Witten clicked early and often.
The Cowboys looked sharp on both sides of the ball. The defense took two of the Giants turnover back to the house. The Cowboys did enough to win and defeated the Giants 36-30.
To sum it all up it looked like a promising night for the 2013 Dallas Cowboys. At times they showing signs of dominance and even mixed in some glimpses of struggle.
The Cowboys will now head to Kansas City to face the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium. The Cowboys will meet a familiar row, Andy Reid, and will look to leave 2-0 and at least a share of the lead in the NFC East.
