No more than a day ago veteran NFL place kicker Rian Lindell was unemployed. After 10 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Lindell was released before the teams practice Monday morning.
It didn’t take Tampa Bay long to jump on the 36-year-old vet. The Bucaneers signed him Tuesday evening as a result of his release from the Bills.
The Bucs are in desperate need of a kicker after losing starter Connor Barth for the season due to a achilles injury in July. Lawrence Tynes was initially brought in as Barth’s replacement, but he has spent most of his time in Tampa dealing with a lingering toe injury.
Lindell now has another shot at starting in the NFL and will have to beat out Derek Dimke and the injured Tynes to do so.
