VIDEO Maurice Jones Drew is all about fun on game day. Recently, in an exclusive PPI interview from the NFL Rookie Premiere Game, Jones Drew imparted his wisdom to the 2011 draft class: “Be humble and play the game and enjoy it. It’s fun. You know, Monday through Saturday it’s a business, but Sunday’s when you get a chance to have fun and go out there and play ball.”
Jones Drew throws out a playful quip with a smile, as he sums up the rookies: “a lot of quarterbacks, receivers, a lot of fancy guys.”
Jones Drew had his first chance to have a little fun in the Jaguars’ final pre-season game against the St. Louis Rams Thursday night. Jacksonville’s RB is back after 8 months of recuperation from a season ending knee injury and surgery. He found a seam for a 14 yard run and was welcomed back to live football.
Jones Drew talked with the media post game, “It felt great. It was a good day in the running game… It was fun to get back out there.” MJD rushed for 14 yards on 5 carries. Post game, he addressed his greatest concern – testing his knee strength under game conditions, “For the most part, everything was there. I’m very comfortable with it.”
Next stop, the regular season. The Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 11th. Jones Drew is ready, “It’s gonna be live. It’s gonna be for real.” Let the festivities commence.
