Politics Won't Interfere With Kickoff

Maybe this is one of those rare occasions where politicians actually do what they say they are going to do.  President Barack Obama promises that his address to the joint session of Congress will end in plenty of time for Thursday’s NFL Kickoff.

After the Capital Hill partisanship, President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner agreed that the President’s address will “kickoff” at  7 p.m. The Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints don’t play until 8:30 p.m.

The White House was aware Thursday night was the season opener for the National Football League.

When a reporter asked Obama’s representative if the speech will constitute a “pre-game show,” the spokesman said: “It means he will have the opportunity to watch the game, like millions of other Americans.”
