Minnesota Vikings DE Brian Robison could face disciplinary action after he was caught kicking Packers guard T.J. Lang in the groin after a field goal in the second quarter on Sunday. The league will have to decide about penalties, but the rest of the drama played out in the Twitterverse.
Lang Tweeted after the game, “Glad to report my genitalia are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery!”
Robison came forth to apologize for his actions, also via Twitter, saying, “My apologies to @tjlang70 , my team, my fans and the @nfl . I am not a dirty player and did not maliciously aim for the groin, just happened to be where it landed.”
Lang took the high road, and accepted Robison’s apology, ”All joking aside I think @Brian_Robison is a heck of a player.. just caught up in the emotion of the game.. apology accepted”
Vikings punter Chris Kluwe had the last word in making light of the situation, complementing Robison on his kicking form by saying, “I’m just upset you’re trying to take my job. There’s no way they don’t start you at punter next week now.”
In all seriousness, we’re glad Lang is ok and we hope that calmer heads rule in the future. Football is a violent sport, but taking aim at a player’s “manhood” is below the belt. Literally.
