Ndamukong Suh has taken a bit of a beating in the media lately for his aggressive play and Thanksgiving stomp on Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith.
Rather than jump on the bashing bandwagon, Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham is standing strong in his support for Suh whom he has referred to as a “once-in-a-generation talent with skills the NFL has never seen.”
Make no mistake, Cunningham isn’t supportive of some of Suh’s actions but says there is more to the player than people realize.
“Well, I can’t defend it,” Cunningham said. “I’m sure that the organization’s in charge of that. I coach him, and I love him, and I’ll never change on that. He’s a great man, and I appreciate the ability I have to coach him.”
The NFL suspended Suh for two games for his conduct so he won’t be playing today when the Lions take on the Saints at New Orleans or next week against the Vikings.
