Although the Patriots ended up beating the Chiefs 34-3 on Monday Night Football, the game was close for longer than most people would have guessed. The Chiefs were actually leading until the last 5 minutes of the first half, and Patriots QB Tom Brady gave a pretty harsh assessment of their offensive performance for the first 30 minutes.
“We just sucked in the first half,” Brady said. “If you can’t complete a pass, you’re not going to move the ball. Can’t run it, can’t complete a pass – we just didn’t do anything.”
“Yeah, we’re going to need to play better than we did offensively tonight if we want to start making some serious improvements down the stretch,” Brady said.
“We’re 7-3. I don’t think we’re really where we hoped to be at this point. We have a whole season ahead of us and hopefully we can come out and have a good week of practice and move forward.”
While they Patriots have some glaring holes to fill, which were highlighted in their back-to-back losses to the Steelers and Giants, they are sitting at 7-3 and appear to be improving as the season progresses. Could be scary news for everyone else in the AFC.
