Jets' Maybin Causing Mayhem on Opposing QBs

Aaron Maybin, nicknamed “Mayhem” by his former college coach Joe Paterno at Penn State, has impressed head coach Rex Ryan with his play recently.  Ryan said earlier this week that “we need to get him on the field more.”  He’s played about 40 snaps so far this year.

Maybin has recorded three sacks and forced three forced fumbled so far this year.  His three sacks are tied with veteran Calvin Pace for the team lead.

Maybin was a former first round draft pick and 11th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills back in 2009.  In his two years with the club, he did not register a single sack.  The Jets picked him up off the waiver wire and he has responded very well to the change in clubs after his unimpressive start in Buffalo.

He’s been very active on defense and the Jets are just letting him “tee-off” on getting to the passer.  The Jets next game is November 6th in Buffalo, following the team’s bye week.

You can bet Maybin wants to cause “Mayhem” on his former team!

The Jets waived center Colin Baxter.  He filled in for center Nick Mangold for two games earlier this year when Mangold was injured.  The Jets were hoping to resign Baxter to the practice squad, but the Chargers, who had Baxter with them in training camp this past summer, put a claim into him and Baxter chose to go with San Diego.

Offensive lineman Matt Kroul and Dennis Landolt were resigned to the practice squad today.  The Jets also worked out former Buffalo bill tight End Shawn Nelson this week.  The 6-5,273 pounder was a fourth round pick of the Bills in 2009.  He had 20 receptions for 181 yards in 17 career games.

Defensive tackle Mike Devito, inactive for last week’s win over the Chargers because of a knee injury, will be active for the game against the Bills.
