Bears QB Jay Cutler injured his right thumb during Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The team hasn’t updated his status, but multiple sources are reporting that it’s broken. And Beat writer Vaughn McClure hears that Cutler needs surgery and will be out 6-8 weeks.
Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck sprained his right elbow in the 2nd half of Sunday’s game against the Falcons. The team doesn’t believe it’s a long-term injury, but we’ll get a more definite timetable after a Monday MRI. Rookie QB Jake Locker was impressive in relief of Hasselbeck on Sunday, but HC Mike Munchak confirmed after the game that Hasselbeck is still his starter when healthy.
Vikings RB Adrian Peterson injured his ankle in the 1st quarter of Sunday’s game against the Raiders and didn’t return. X-rays came back negative, but he’s scheduled for an MRI on Monday. It sounds like he has a sprain. The severity and type (high ankle?) will determine how much time he misses.
Cardinals NT Dan Williams is out for the season with a broken left arm according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.
Bills RB Fred Jackson suffered a calf injury in the 2nd half of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. He never returned, and was spotted on the sidelines with a wrap on his leg. X-rays came back negative, though, and Jackson said afterwards that he doesn’t believe the injury is serious.
Packers RB James Starks suffered what the team is calling a sprained knee late in Sunday’s win over the Bucs. Starks will undergo an MRI on Monday, at which time we should have a better idea of how long he’ll be out. He’s not a good bet to be ready for Thursday’s game against the Lions though.
Packers HC Mike McCarthy revealed in his post-game press conference that WR Greg Jennings suffered a shin bruise in Sunday’s win over the Bucs. McCarthy added that Jennings “should be ok.” He didn’t play much in the 2nd half, though, finishing with just 2 catches for 6 yards. Green Bay has a quick turnaround for Thursday’s game against the Lions.
Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey had to be carted off the field after taking a knee to the head during Sunday’s game against the Vikings. The good news is that DHB has movement in all extremities and was cleared to fly home with the team on Sunday night. He almost certainly sustained a severe concussion, though, so he’s a long shot to be ready for Week 12.
Bills WR Donald Jones sprained his right ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins. He was carted off the field and is expected to miss 3-6 weeks.
