As if the 2-10 Vikings didn’t have enough problems as it was, they are facing the 7-5 Detroit Lions this weekend, and both starting quarterback Christian Ponder and All Pro running back Adrian Peterson are listed as questionable for the game.
Ponder has been bothered by a hip pointer this week, and Peterson is still nursing a high angle sprain. Ponder missed two practices this week, but was back on the field on Friday, and Peterson practiced on a limited basis.
“I think I’ll be pushing for it no matter what,” Peterson said. “But I feel like coach Frazier has my best interests at hand, so we’ll see how things go.”
The Lions ferocious defense is intimidating to start with, but to go in without a starting QB and star RB is a pretty tall order. And things don’t get any easier for the Vikings, as they have the 9-3 New Orleans Saints next weekend, and close the season against the 7-5 Chicago Bears.
