Ryan Tannehill and his wife, Lauren, are heavily involved in helping their community. One of their more recent projects is known as the “Tannehills’ Achieving Community Education Success,” or ACES for short. In this program, both Ryan and Lauren work with varying students whom they reward for keeping their grades up and involving themselves in community activities.
As part of their work with these children, the Tannehills selected 25 students from American Senior High School to host at the Dolphin’s practice on Thursday. These students were a part of the Tannehills’ back-to-school giveaway which involved giving the kids a new backpack, shorts, shirts, socks, and shoes! The students also received a grand tour of the Doctors Hospital Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University, an opportunity to watch the Dolphins practice, and to meet both Ryan and Lauren at the conclusion of the Dolphin’s training session.
The event had a positive influence on the 25 students from Davie, Florida teaching them that academics are a necessity in life. Both of the Tannehills agreed that “academics (are) really important because you never really know how it’s going to play out. Football doesn’t work for many people. It’s always good to have a dream but always to have academics to fall back on. (We’re) just trying to encourage that.” The Tannehills will continue to play their part in the Miami community as the season progresses with events scheduled for later this year. As Ryan Tannehill put it, “all players have a responsibility to give back to the community,” and he will continue to do just that.
