Buffalo Bills star receiver Stevie Johnson recently made some comments about his twitter account about the Buffalo Bills receiving core. He said, “Best wide receiving core in the NFL is coming from the Buffalo Bills.” This is a very strong statement from one of the leagues best wideouts. Is Stevie right?
The Bills’ receiving core is very young. The Bills believe they finally have a very capable receiver opposite of Stevie Johnson in their second round selection in the 2013 draft in Robert Woods. He was widely viewed as the most NFL ready receiver in the draft. At the teams mini camp and OTA’s this offseason, he stole the show from rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel. Time will tell is he turns out to be the receiver who can take the pressure off of Stevie Johnson.
The rest of the recovering corps is very young. Second year player T.J. Graham is looking to have a breakout season in his sophomore campaign. Rookie speedster Marquise Goodwin is going to push for playing time, and if undrafted rookie Da’Rick Rogers can make the 53-man roster, he can be a very good player. The Bills’ receiving core is a talented group, but they are a very young and need to grow. I do think that they certainly have the potential to be one of the best receiving cores in the NFL, but they are to young to make that statement right now.
