As Steeler Nation prepares to face the Titans this week, a lot more may be on the line than just a team win. The NFL Play 60 Program, designed to combat childhood obesity in America’s youth, is holding an online contest between a local Pennsylvania school and a Tennessee Elementary school that could be the difference in that school receiving funding to create a healthier atmosphere.
The Pittsburgh Steelers website describes the contest as follows:
The program, which was launched this year by the NFL in partnership with DonorsChoose.org, features two deserving youth health and fitness projects from the cities of the two teams competing on Thursday Night Football. The winning project will be funded 100 percent by NFL Play 60, and the other will receive funding of 50 percent.
The competition this week begins between Banksville Elementary School (PA) and Kirkpatrick Enhanced Option ES (Nashville, TN). Fans can vote for either school up to one time per hour until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. by visiting www.nflrush.com/choose.
