Every year at the end of the NFL season, I look back and create a mental list of my creations and pick out 8 or 10 pieces that were my favorites for the year. Couture pieces that pushed limits, were outside the box, were never created before in the history of jerseys or were just so fabulous they had to make my mental cut.
Most years I have a very hard time narrowing it down, but rest assured I have one client whose creations make the cut year after year. This fashionista is so MARVELOUS, fashionable and just plain fabulous I’ve nicknamed her my West Coast Twin.
Jessica Trufant, the beautiful wife of Seattle Seahawks cornerback and 9-year veteran Marcus Trufant, has had her game day gear created at Bella Artistry for 6 years. Each year we try to fashion jerseys for her that reflect her personality…fun, sassy, bubbly and sparkly! Think lace, chiffon, silk, Swarovski, feathers and real fur! We also have the benefit of having 3 little fashionistas to outfit – Jessica and Marcus’ three children (Karmyn 6, Kimora 3 and Kennedi 17months). Jessica has been able to recycle hers and her daughters’ jerseys every year. The very first jersey I did for Karmyn has now been worn by all three little divas over the last 6 years.
Jessica and Marucs have the rare opportunity to play in the NFL in their hometown of Seattle. They met while he was in his rookie year with the Seahawks through a mutual friend from WSU. After their first date, although Jessica thought he was nice, she “wasn’t really feeling him” so she made up a story about having homework to get home to so she could end the date early.
But after a few weeks with no contact from him it dawned on her that maybe she really did like him. She tracked him down and persuaded him to take her out on another date…and the rest is history!
Marcus surprised Jessica with a proposal in front of both their families at a restaurant in Seattle. When she thought they were being led to their table behind curtains she was surprised by their families waiting, at which point he got down on bended knee even with his leg in a boot (from yet another NFL injury) to ask her hand in marriage.
Marcus is surrounded by garb and frills (that’s chic-speak for clothes and accessories) 24/7, so he probably isn’t fazed or wowed too much by our creations, but I’m sure he is proud to have such a gorgeous wife and adorable little girls waiting for him after the games wearing his SPARKLY number 23.
