It’s normally players that you worry about getting injured during a game, but today was an exception. New Orleans head coach Sean Payton was injured during a sideline collision during Sunday’s match up against Tampa Bay.
Payton fell to the ground and his leg got caught under Saints TE Jimmy Graham when he was tackled by a Tampa Bay player in the first quarter. While the players were fine, Payton broke his tibia, his kneecap and tore his M.C.L. (Video here).
He coached part of the first half of the game from the bench and then was taken off the field on a golf cart. He was said to be coaching the second half of the game from a booth upstairs.
Saints lost to the Bucs 26-20. Hopefully Payton heals quickly and joins his team on the sidelines next week.
