Players discussed and debated the various deal points for a settlement. Active and former players remain dedicated and working toward reaching a fair deal. They are seeking a long-term agreement benefiting players, owners and fans.

Players also gave a “vote of confidence” to the Executive Committee and to class counsel to continue resolving remaining and outstanding issues.

Late Wednesday afternoon, players took a conditional vote to move forward with the settlement process, but a few outstanding issues remain.

The league’s labor committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday evening in Atlanta, then be joined by the entire ownership group for a meeting Thursday.

It was previously announced that the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams would report to training camps July 22. As work continues on finalizing a new agreement, that appears not possible. The status of their Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio set for August 7 has not been determined.
