Peterson Gets Help With "Football for Good"

VIDEO – Vikings All Pro running back Adrian Peterson has recently acquired a couple of new teammates.  He has joined forces with actors Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore for a campaign called “Football for Good” to raise money for at-risk youth and to help put an end to human trafficking of children.

They have been using a viral video campaign called Real Men Don’t Buy Girls, which Peterson participated in, as shown above along with a “cameo” by Tom Brady.

Peterson has been working with at-risk youth through his All Day Foundation, but has recently started working with Kutcher and Moore, who have been focused on fighting human trafficking for years through their DNA Foundation.  He became aware of the tremendous issue the human trafficking of minors is while on a charitable mission to Africa, and he reached out to Kutcher and Moore after his return.

“I realized a long time ago that I was in a position to make a difference and help people,” Peterson said to the Star Tribune this week.  “I kind of put myself in a position to make sure I’m situated to explore [charitable] options. That’s why I started the All Day Foundation, so I could reach out to help people and try to make some kind of change in people’s lives.”

“In the big scheme of things, that’s the most important thing. That’s what I was put on earth to do. My true works is to do that. It’s something that’s been in me for a long time.”

Peterson has pledged to donate $5,000 toward the cause for every touchdown he scores this year, and Kutcher and Moore will match that donation.

Other NFL players have pledged donations of different dollar amounts for every touchdown they make.  Participating athletes include:  the Bears’ Roy Williams, the Bengals’ Jermaine Gresham, the Eagles’ DeSean Jackson and the Colts’ Dallas Clark.  The Raiders’ Michael Huff will donate money for every interception he has, and boxer Victor Ortiz will donate money for every one of Peterson’s touchdowns.

“It’s sick, and it’s happening to kids right here in the United States,” Peterson said.  “This cause means a lot to me,” said Peterson.
