Packers 45 (15-1) Lions 41 (10-6): When Packers coach Mike McCarthy decided to rest Aaron Rodgers today and play Matt Flynn, it was assumed by many that the Lions would be able to defeat the Packers and clinch the fifth seed in the NFC. Matt Flynn has other plans.
Flynn did something that no other QB in the history of Packers football had ever done by throwing 6 touchdown passes including one to Jermichael Finley with 1:10 left to give the Packers a 45-41 victory. Matt Stafford threw for 520 yards and 5 touchdowns in a losing effort for the Lions.
With the loss, and an apparent Falcons victory (they lead the Buccaneers 35-0) the Lions will fall to the six seed in the NFC and will be forced to play next Saturday in New Orleans where the Saints finished the regular season 8-0. The Packers will take next week off as the 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, and Matt Flynn will get a tape of todays game ready to send to every NFL team in need of QB help. Flynn is a free agent at the end of this season.
