NFL Combine: Wide Receivers Full Measurements

Just like last year, the wide receiver position is extremely deep this year. However, I do not feel the top end has as much stars as I pointed out last year. Going into last year’s combine, I specifically pointed out players like Odell Beckham Jr and Allen Robinson, to go along with Sammy Watkins and Kelvin Benjamin. All four showed that they can be #1 type wide receivers in the NFL. This year I like just as much players, maybe even more, but I think only one or two will have the type of impact that the four previously listed had in their rookie season.

The consensus is the Alabama’s Amari Cooper is the #1 wide receiver and I completely agree. He may not be the physical specimen that a Calvin Johnson is, but he’s a good route runner, goes to get the ball at its peak, and had huge hands to bring in tough catches. Because of that, he won’t slip out of the top 6. Speaking of physical specimens, Oklahoma’s Dorial Green Beckham came in at 6’5 237 pounds. If he can run a sub 4.55, it probably shoots him right into the end of the 1st round. The only thing keeping him from being a top 10 pick is his off-field issues, which kept him off the field of the entire 2014 season.

After those two, some other notable WRs in the draft that caught my attention were Kevin White from West Virginia and Jaelen Strong of Arizona State University. Both are big strong fast WRs that have potential to be impact players. Four other names that are mentioned a lot with the top WRs are Louisville’s DaVante Parker, Michigan’s Devin Funchess, Auburn’s Sammie Coates, and Ohio State’s Devin Smith. All are expected to go within the 1st two rounds of the NFL draft, so keep an eye on them when they do their workout day. Two more players of note to keep an eye on as good slot guys are Tyler Lockett of Kansas State and Rashad Greene of Florida State.
