New York Giants Are “America’s Dream”

Earlier today the Super Bowl XLVI champions made their way up NYC’s Canyon of Heroes aboard floats for the ticker-tape Super Bowl Victory Parade. Eli Manning, joined by coach Tom Coughlin, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other teammates, waved and grinned from the float.

The parade was followed by a ceremony at City Hall Plaza, at which Mayor Bloomberg presented the New York Giants with Keys to the City.

Giants Team co-owner Stephen Tisch said, “I think we should to this every Tuesday.  I hear there is a group down in Dallas who call themselves America’s team.  But after looking at all of you in the streets today, we are America’s dream.”

Captain of the front line, defensive end Justin Tuck, said Coach Coughlin reminded him that “it is fitting to bring the Lombardi trophy to NYC because Lombardi started here.” He added that, “We made it here by believing in each other:  offense, defense and special teams.  Blue, Red and White.”

Tuck then invited Andre Brown to the podium where he and the other Giants joined in Brown’s You Tube hit “I got a ring.”

Tuck laughed and said,  “Hey, guess what?  I got two.”

The Super Bowl game MVP, Eli Manning brought the Lombardi Trophy on stage and said Coach Coughlin had two messages during the season.  “Make it tough just make it possible.”

“When the Giants were 6-2 at the beginning of the season the team said, ‘Coach this isn’t tough enough we need to lose four more.’” Manning added, “We had eight fourth quarter comebacks and won six straight games to bring home the trophy.”

The other message Manning said was finish.  Finish practice, finish games, finish the quarter and finish season.

Tom Coughlin received a heroes welcome when he said, “This can only happen in New York, the greatest city in the world.  We have returned the Lombardi to where it belongs.”

President Obama spoke with Coughlin as he headed to City Hall. Coughlin said the “President praised the team’s leadership and said the key thing to remember is that all things are possible for those that believe.” Coughlin added, “We all knew we could get here, we believed.”

Mayor Bloomberg who was the MC of the event asked the crowd, “is he [Coughlin] going to end up in the Hall of Fame?

Looks that way, especially if he believes.
