Current members of the USC Trojans took lessons and advice from Mark Sanchez, NFL quarterback of the New York Jets last week. Sanchez has quarterbacked the Jets to the past two AFC Championship games.
USC Coach Lane Kiffin invited Sanchez to speak to players last week. Sanchez departed from USC after just one season as a starter. Sanchez focused his speech on encouraging current players to graduate and celebrate their time at USC.
Junior quarterback Matt Barkley told reporters, “it was good to hear from him, from a guy who’s in the NFL and what he has to say.”
Sanchez went through a throwing session with former Trojans receivers Keary Colbert, Patrick Turner and Damian Williams after speaking. When asked about his speech he joked that it was “a short, two-minute deal. They probably fell asleep halfway through it.”
