Former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has finally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and had a lot to say about his upcoming role with this organization. “I’m always going to want to start,” Sanchez said. ” … It doesn’t matter where you are. All those guys want to play, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having that drive. I’ll keep that fire going and try and help this team the best I can. “Coming in here, I’m not stirring up a controversy,” Sanchez said. “I’m here to help this team win, whatever that means.”
Eagle’s head coach Chip Kelly wanted an experience quarterback that could be used in the system that he is running; “I’ve said many times that we will always look to add quality players at the quarterback position,” Chip Kelly said. “We consider it a key position in this game, so having the chance to add Mark to that group was a no-brainer for us.
“Mark has started 68 games in his career and has taken his teams deep into the playoffs multiple times, so we really like what he brings to the table from an experience standpoint. I also had the chance to see Mark play in college and have always had respect for his game and athletic ability.” “You can never have enough talent at the quarterback position on your roster, so when Mark became available we immediately became interested,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said. “He was obviously a very highly touted player coming out of USC and has had valuable experience in this league. He’ll have the chance to come in and learn the playbook, and we feel he’ll be a nice veteran addition to the quarterback room.”
Sanchez has another opportunity to rewrite all the mistakes that he has made in the past 2 years. He had a 39td’s/36 int ratio. In the 2013 season, Mark couldn’t complete the season because of an injury that left him sidelined for the rest of the year, but he is optimistic that life for him in Philly would change. “I’m confident in my skills,” Sanchez said. “I’m going to compete to be the best player I can possibly be … put my head down and work.”
“Coach Kelly really is on the cutting edge of the NFL,” Sanchez said. “He’s one of those guys who has a really exciting vision for the future… I’m going to do nothing but learn here.”“I love the tempo of the offense,” Sanchez added. “I feel like some of our best success where I’ve been was at a high tempo, at a high level – either late in the game, or when we just picked things up and started rolling in a two-minute fashion. It feels like that’s kind of the norm around here. So that’s not just exciting, but that’s fun for me. That’s fun for a quarterback.”
