One of the sport’s most prolific tight ends could hang up his cleats if the NFL and NFLPA aren’t able to resolve the lockout situation. Tony Gonzalez of the Atlanta Falcons told reporters last week of his plans.
“Would I sit out a whole season and come back – probably not, honestly,” Gonzalez told Sporting News. “At this point, at my age, I don’t know if that would be smart of me to do something like that. But I’m enjoying the offseason, working out and preparing like I always do.”
Gonzalez was quick to point out that he doesn’t expect it to get to that point and added, “I think it might cut into camp. Into the season, I doubt it.”
Next year would be Gonzalez’ 15th in the NFL. He caught 70 passes and 6 touchdowns last season for the Falcons.
