Local Students Run Drills With National Team

Middle school students at Rodgers Middle School in Long Beach were in for a great time earlier today, as the NFLPA Bowl’s National Team paid them a visit. The players became the coaches as the kids broke into groups and did drill- inspired activities. Music pumped up the children as they did a circuit through the various stations, with members of the National Team cheering them on.

The kids went through a variety of exercises that included kicking, jumping agiles and hurdles, running and backpedaling, footwork, catching, as well as passing. They seemed particularly excited about the linebacker station, where members of the National Team’s secondary held blocking dummies for the children to run into, followed by a zig- zag through cones, and ending with a catch of a “fumbled” ball.

The children were encouraged to ask players about healthy habits, exercising, eating properly, and taking care of their bodies.
