The Buffalo Bills backfield was already banged up coming into tonight’s practice with the Cleveland Browns at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, NY.
And their best back just limped into the locker room.
LeSean McCoy was forced to leave practice today, after suffering an apparent hamstring injury during a portion of 7-on-7 drills. It happened during a non-contact portion of the play and while it looked bad at first, with McCoy on the turf in pain, he was at least able to get off the field under his own power.
“LeSean went out with a hamstring,” said head coach Rex Ryan after practice. “Not going to say it’s a pull; we’ll find out what it is.”
“The trainers did say the hamstring is in tack, it’s not off the bone so that’s a real positive.”
McCoy will be sent for an MRI on the hamstring to determine whether the injury is a strain or a pull.
While the injuries have been piling up at Bills camp, this has certainly been the biggest, as McCoy means so much to their run-heavy offensive approach.
“The next man has to stand up,” Ryan added. “And then the next man, and the next man and the next man. But that’s what happens and sometimes you have to play in those situations.”
The Bills are now down to just two healthy running backs (2015 undrafted free agents Bronson Hill and Ricky Seale) as they get ready to head to Cleveland, to take on the Browns Thursday at 8 p.m.
