New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson announced that he does realize that this could be his last game, not just as a Jet, but as an NFL player. Tomlinson is a free agent after this season and is in his 11th season in the NFL.
“Yes, there is definitely a thought that this could be, because you never know how things shake out,” said Tomlinson, who will be a free agent after this season. “For me, it just depends on the situation. I’ve said that before. I would love to keep playing, but if the situation is not right, then I won’t. This possibly could be my last game.”
“If it is my last game, I’ve enjoyed 11 years of playing football, playing a kid’s game [with] two great organizations. Obviously, being here the last couple of years, I’ve really enjoyed my time here. The fans have been great. My teammates have been great. The coaching staff. There is nothing I could complain about.”
Running backs typically see a loss in productivity after the age of 30, and Tomlinson (31) has a lot of mileage. He is number 6 all time in career rushing yards with 13,628. He is just ahead of Hall of Famers Eric Dickerson (7th all time), Tony Dorsett (8th), Jim Brown (9th) and Marshall Faulk (10th).
